Facts & Misconceptions

Let's Begin.....Please click on my Youtube animation.

"You are getting sleepy, very sleepy. SLEEP." From the moment James Braid, M.D. (1795-1860) coined the term hypnosis, derived from the Greek word hypnos meaning sleep, people have misunderstood what exactly hypnotism is about. Contrary to sleep, hypnosis is a relaxed state of focused concentration. Electroencephalogram (EEG) readings taken during hypnosis show a high incidence of alpha wave activity which indicates a relaxed yet attentive brain.

"And now, whenever you see the color red, you will QUACK LIKE A DUCK." Yes, you will quack like a duck....if that is what you wish to do. A hypnotist cannot make you do anything that you think to be unacceptable. All hypnosis is self-hypnosis.

"Hey buddy, you want to buy a bridge?" Hypnosis has been popularized by fiction and movies that show the "weak-minded" or gullible person as the one most susceptible to hypnosis. Research shows people who have affective or thought disorders rarely go into trance as it is difficult for them to sustain concentration. It takes imagination, creativity, desire and motivation to become hypnotized. Studies indicate that most "normal" individuals can induce trance for positive outcomes.
